You’ve Set the Date…

Once you know when you are getting married you can start to look around to find the church, registration office, or approved venue, plus the reception venue like www.heythroppark.co.uk. First of all you need to put together a rough budget for the event including what you want to spend on the venue, and then draw up a guest list. Book the registration office or arrange the marriage with the church and arrange a Notice of Marriage. Book your chosen venue – you’ve got plenty of choice, so make sure you try and leave as much time as possible to maximise the chances of finding the place you like is available. Choose your bridesmaids and your best man, plus attendants and ushers if you are going to use them. Once you have your venue and the exact date, book the photographer.

Four Months Before…

If you are having your invitations made, order them. Work out what transport you will be using to get from the venue and going away to the hotel. If you need to, book cars. Start looking at honeymoon ideas and make travel plans. Remember that you may need to change your passport if you will be traveling under your married name. Start shopping for your wedding dress and for the bridesmaids’ dresses. Have your husband-to-be look for his options in suit hire or purchase, and for the ushers.

Three Months Before…

Order the wedding cake of your dreams and choose the rings you most like. It helps to order both these things in advance so that you have a better choice and also so that adjustments can be made in time. Pay the fees for the ceremony and settle up with the venue. Send out the invitations to your guests and place an order for menu cards and place cards once you get confirmations. Choose a florist and book them for their services on the day and in the run-up to the wedding. Make an appointment to choose your flowers and to discuss arrangements. If you are going to have one, decide on your wedding gift list. Have a fitting of your wedding dress or choose your wedding dress if you are buying it off the peg. If your honeymoon is abroad, check you have the required vaccinations and visas. Book your hotel for the wedding night.

Four Weeks Before…

Choose gifts for the bridesmaids and best man. Have final fittings for your dress and a trial run of your hair. Confirm numbers, arrange the seating plan, and make sure you have the table décor sorted out.

Two Weeks Before….

Work out the timetable for the day and run through it with the important people in the wedding party. Double-check the details and the timings and then sit back and relax – your wedding day is nearly here and you’re fully prepared.
